Research

My PhD research provides a comparative analysis of the individual-centric approach to end-of-life decision-making for individuals lacking capacity, viewed through the lens of human dignity. I explore the role and impact of the protection of human dignity within the end-of-life context under English and German law.

Specifically, I consider how human dignity might provide the basis for consistent, individual-centric decision-making under s 4 Mental Capacity Act 2005 by setting the best interests approach into comparison with the German presumed will framework.

Teaching

I recently taught my final class at Durham, where I've spent 4 years teaching on the third-year LLB Law and Medicine module, which is the largest optional module offered in the Law School. I've also provided core LLB teaching and additional materials on the LLM.

My teaching is informed by research and EDI practices. I'm consistently ranked among the best of all teaching staff in the department, and I am highly regarded by students. My average Likert rating across my entire time teaching was 5/5.
